Contact Lenses & Exams
While eyeglasses can be a fashion accessory to help you see, contact lenses bring a certain ease and convenience to daily living. Are you considering making the switch to contact lenses? You can learn more here.
Are contact lenses for you?
Over the years, there have been huge advances in contact lens technology. We’re proud to offer a range of different lens types that cater to almost any prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs. If you’ve had a previous negative experience with contact lenses or if you’re unsure whether contact lenses are suitable for your eyes, we invite you to speak to one of your contact lens specialists. We fit contact lenses for people as young as 6 years of age.
Why wear contact lenses?
Whether you plan on wearing them for the occasional night out or daily, there are many benefits to wearing contact lenses. While wearing glasses can restrict your field of view, contact lenses offer an unobstructed field of vision. They also make exercising or playing sports easier. Free from worrying about your frames falling off, breaking, or sliding down your nose, you can enhance your performance while seeing with clarity. Contact lenses also bring ease to daily life as they do not fog up as glasses do. For some people, they also boost a person’s confidence when it comes to physical appearance.
Types of contact lenses
We offer a range of contact lenses from brands like Alcon, JJ, and Cooper, including:
- daily disposables
- 2-weekly or monthly lenses
- toric lenses
- multifocal or varifocal lenses
- hard, gas-permeable lenses
We also offer specialist contact lenses such as Keratoconus, RGP, and Transitions.
Your contact lens fitting
Your initial contact lens consultation will take approximately 1 hour.
Dr. Kvitle has three parts to his contact lens exam. First, he will begin with a thorough eye health evaluation checking for any eye-threatening conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration. Then he will test the vision to determine the strength of the correction. Finally, he will do a corneal health evaluation that will determine which contact lenses are best for you according to your visual needs and lifestyle.
The corneal health evaluation includes 3 free follow-up visits to ensure the best contact fit for your prescription and comfort.
